The weekly round

What the weekly flushing round is, which taps are in it, until when you can walk it, and what to do with a tap that is temporarily closed or broken.

Weekly flushing is the most important measure against legionella: water that stands still in little-used pipes is refreshed. The flushing itself remains work for people. LegioLog makes the paperwork automatic, and makes the flushing verifiable.

How the weekly round works

  • Every Monday morning the app sets up that week's flushing round under Rounds, in "Rounds to walk". On the dashboard it is in "To do today", with how many taps are still open.
  • You may walk the round on any day of that week, also in parts. It must be done by Sunday at the latest; that is shown as "by Sunday 26 October".
  • With Open the route you see per building which taps are still open. The route updates itself; there is no tick-off button. A flush counts when it has been recorded at the tap with the tag. See Recording a flush with the tag.

Which taps are in it

Not every tap every week. The app looks at the season and at how your taps are used; above the route it says why these taps are in it.

  • In the high season only the taps that are rarely used. Taps in daily use are flushed through by themselves.
  • In the first and last four weeks of the season, after a reopening and in the quiet months all hot taps. You set the quiet months under Records, if you are open all year round.
  • If an installation saw no hot water for a week and no tag was tapped, all hot taps of that installation are included.

If there is nothing to flush in a week, no round is set up and the weekly email says "No flushing round needed".

A tap that cannot be done

If a tap is broken, not accessible or the tag does not work, report it with Can't do it at that tap in the route. See Reporting Can't do it. The tap stays in the round until it has been flushed.

Temporarily closed or permanently out of service

A tap or a whole building that is temporarily not in use (drained, shut off for the winter) is set to Temporarily closed under Flushing points. It stays visible and keeps its tag, but is not in the round. With Open again it counts again. Do not close an empty building that still has water in it: that is where water stands still and where you should flush.

A tap that no longer exists is set to Permanently out of service. See Seasonal closure and reopening.

Other tasks

Below the rounds are the separate tasks: the monthly measurement, the backflow valve check or a sampling. See The monthly measurement and Extra rounds.

When a week does not work out

A missed week is not quietly hidden. If the round is not done by Sunday, it shows as late on the dashboard and the manager receives an email. The logbook shows what was and was not flushed, and that is exactly what an inspector wants to see. Simply pick up the next week. Which taps have not been flushed for a few weeks, you see in the overview per tap. See To do today and the overview per tap.
