The monthly measurement

The monthly temperature measurement per measuring point: where to find it, how to fill it in, when it is done and what happens when a value is outside the standard.

The LegioLog sensors measure the temperature of your pipes throughout the month. That is continuous monitoring to support your management plan. In addition, your management plan usually asks for a monthly temperature measurement per measuring point. In the app this is called the monthly measurement: the app sets it up, shows what is still to do and records every value.

How the monthly measurement works

  1. The monthly measurement is under Rounds, in "Other tasks", and on the dashboard in "To do today". The button shows how far you are, for example "Measure (1 of 4)".
  2. The measuring screen has one line per measuring point. Let the tap at the measuring point run until the temperature is stable, measure with the thermometer and enter the degrees.
  3. For every value you see straight away whether it is within the standard. If it is outside, the app asks what you are doing about it; that action goes into the logbook with the reading.
  4. With Save the entered readings you record what you have entered. You can save in parts. The monthly measurement is only done when every measuring point has a reading.

Everything goes into the logbook, with date, measuring point, value and who entered it. In the report it is in section 6.

When

The monthly measurement must be done by the last day of the month at the latest. If it is not done by then, it shows as late on the dashboard and the manager receives an email.

What the standards are

Hot water should be hot enough and cold water cold enough; the exact limits are in your management plan and in the app at the measuring point.

Taking over the sensor value

For a measuring point with a sensor, the measuring screen shows the button Take over the sensor value, with the value next to it. That is the value the sensor recorded in that month. If you take it over unchanged, the logbook states that it is a sensor value taken over; if you change it, it counts as your own reading. Whether a sensor value may count as the monthly measurement for your site is determined by your management plan.

Sensor readings and your management plan

The sensor readings are not accredited measurements. Which measurements your site has to carry out, and how, is determined by your management plan. The sensors are also the early signal: if the water heater fails on Friday evening, you know on Friday evening, not at the next monthly measurement. See What LegioLog is and is not.
