Help · Flushing and rounds
Recording a flush with the tag
Tap, flush, on to the next tap: how a flush is recorded and how the sensor assesses per flushing round whether hot water came.
Recording a flush takes four steps. This is also what the flushing card says, which you can hang in the utility cupboard.
- Get this week's flushing round. In the app under Rounds, or, if you flush without an account, on the round page that opens from a tag or the QR code on the poster.
- Phone against the tag. The top of an iPhone, or the middle of the back of an Android, against the tag at the tap. The screen shows the tap and the building.
- Tap open on hot. The screen counts down the flushing time, for example "Let the hot tap run for 1:00". Let the tap run until the timer reaches zero; the screen then turns green. See The flushing timer and the flushing time.
- On to the next tap. The green screen tells you which tap of the round is still open.
How the sensor assesses
The sensor sits on the hot pipe from the water heater, before the first branch. All taps on the same hot water installation that follow each other within half an hour together form a flushing round. Half an hour after the last tap, the app assesses that round in one go: did hot water come out of the installation, and did the pipe reach the temperature that belongs to that installation?
Until that assessment is there, the flush shows as Waiting for confirmation from the pipe. After that each tap gets its status:
- Verified: jump: the sensor saw the temperature jump at this tap. This is the strongest evidence.
- Pipe at temperature: in the same flushing round hot water flowed out of the installation. Flushed and tapped, with evidence for the round.
- Not verified: in this flushing round no hot water came out of the installation, or the pipe did not reach the temperature. See No tick after flushing.
- Without sensor: the tag was scanned at a tap that no sensor watches.
- Recorded, no evidence per tap: the installation has a circulation pipe. See Circulation and the loop.
Scanning a tag without flushing is pointless: without hot water the sensor sees nothing, and the logbook then says so.
No signal at the tap
If the phone has no connection, the screen says "Not sent yet". The tap stays on the phone with its time and is sent automatically as soon as there is signal again. Just flush as usual. In the logbook such a tap shows as "sent later (no signal when tapping)".
Who flushed
The app records who tapped the tag and when: the name and role from the account, or the name entered on the phone when flushing without an account. See Who did what.
Tap broken or not accessible?
If you cannot flush a tap, report it with Can't do it. See Reporting Can't do it.
