Flushing with your own phone, without an account
The site's flushing password, the first tap on a new phone, what a staff member can and cannot do, and how the manager renews the password.
People who flush do not need an account. The manager sets a flushing password per site; a staff member enters it once on their own phone, together with their name, and after that every tag works straight away. Every flush goes into the logbook and the report with that name and the note "via flushing password".
The first tap on a new phone
- Hold the phone against a tag at a flushing point, or scan the QR code on the poster.
- The phone shows the name of the site and asks for a name and the flushing password. Choose a name from the list or type one.
- Tap Continue. The phone goes straight on to the flushing screen of that tag.
At the second tag the phone asks nothing more. The link stays valid for 90 days and extends itself with every flush.
Five wrong passwords: the phone has to wait a quarter of an hour. The screen only says that the password is not correct.
What a staff member without an account can do
- Tap tags and let the timer run, exactly as with an account. See Recording a flush with the tag.
- See today's round on the round page: the open taps of the weekly round, and for a hotel the rooms.
- Mark rooms as occupied and enter last night's occupancy.
- Report with Can't do it that a tap cannot be flushed. See Reporting Can't do it.
- Choose another name on a shared phone, via "Other name" at the top of the round.
If the phone has no signal at the tap, the tap stays on the phone and is sent automatically as soon as there is a connection again.
Settings, reports, ordering, adding flushing points and assigning tags are only possible with an account (staff member or manager). If a linked phone opens such a page, it says "Ask the manager".
For the manager: the password and the poster
The flushing password is under Settings, in "Flushing without an account": 6 to 12 characters, one per site. There you also find the list of names and the linked phones, each with a button to remove or unlink.
With "Print poster" you make an A5 sheet with the site name, a QR code to the round page, the password and three lines of explanation. Hang it in the utility cupboard or near the flushing points. We do not store the password anywhere; if you want to print it again later, enter it again.
Renew it when the password has been passed around or when someone leaves: every linked phone then asks for name and password again at the next tap. You can also unlink a single phone without affecting the others.
Frequently asked questions
The phone suddenly asks for the password again. The manager has renewed it, or the link has not been used for 90 days. Enter the new password and you can carry on.
I tap a tag of another site. Then the phone asks again for name and password, of that site. A phone is linked to one site at a time.
How do I see who flushed? In the logbook every flush shows the name; the report lists the names under who did what. See also Flushing in a hotel.
