What an alert means and what to do
The types of alerts the app sends, who gets them, where to find them, how to close them and how the follow-up ends up in the logbook and the report.
The sensors measure every fifteen minutes. If something deviates, the app opens an alert and sends an email to the managers and staff members of that site.
Where to find alerts
Alerts are behind the bell: in the sidebar next to your name at the bottom, and at the top right on a phone. The number next to the bell is what is still waiting for you. The bell opens Alerts, with three tabs:
- Open: the deviation is still going on.
- Recovered, still to close: the sensor saw recovery, but what was done has not been recorded yet.
- Closed: dealt with, the last sixty days.
The types of alerts
- Hot water too cold. A keep-warm point or the water heater outlet drops below the standard. Usually a water heater or circulation that fails.
- Cold water too warm. The cold water pipe warms up, for example from sun on a pipe or a warm plant room. If the cold water stays warm, flushing is the first measure.
- Flushing did not reach the temperature. Hot water came in a flushing round, but the pipe did not reach the temperature of the installation. See No tick after flushing.
- Tap not flushed. Someone reported with "Can't do it" that a tap could not be flushed. See Can't do it: a tap you cannot flush.
- Flushing round overdue or task overdue. The weekly round or a task is not finished after the deadline.
- Sensor silent or receiver silent. No more readings are coming in. After 24 hours of silence you get an email about it. See A sensor is not sending anything.
- Battery low. The battery of a sensor is running out; the alert only comes after three messages in a row with a low value.
What to do
- Open the alert from the bell or the email. You see which measuring point and which building it concerns, when the alert started and whether the sensor has already seen recovery.
- Fix the cause: check the water heater, flush the tap, insulate the pipe.
- Choose Close alert and tick what you did. For each type of alert the app offers a few common measures to choose from, for example "Boiler thermostat checked and turned up". If you want to add something, choose Add a note; if your measure is not listed, choose Other, describe it yourself and describe it briefly.
The measure goes into the logbook and the monthly report as an entry. An alert can be closed once; the first statement stays. Anyone with the role manager or staff member can close an alert.
Closing several at once
If several alerts have the same cause, for example a receiver that was off for a night, tick them in the list and choose Close with a measure. Each alert gets the same measure and its own entry in the logbook.
Recovery is not the same as closing
As soon as the temperature is back within the standard, the sensor sees the recovery and you get a recovery message. Recovery is what the sensor saw, the measure is what you did. An inspector wants to see both. An alert that has recovered but has not been closed is listed under "Recovered, still to close" and in the report with "no measure recorded" until you close it. See The inspection report.
An alert that is not right
If a sensor keeps reporting a deviation while the water is fine, it is probably measuring the room instead of the pipe. See A reading seems too low. Close the alert with that explanation, so that the report shows you looked into it. If it remains unclear, email support@legiolog.nl with the name of the measuring point.
